Topic 1:                         Recycling and waste reduction

Research questions:       ?      How do students usually dispose of the waste they produce?

?     To what extent do university students contribute to recycling and waste reduction on campus?

Topic 2:                         Social media and interpersonal relationships

Research questions:       ?      How do students usually communicate with friends and family on social media?

?     To what extent do students think that social media affects their interpersonal relationships?

Topic 3:                         Consumer responsibility

Research questions:       ?      What do XJTLU students consider when buying a new product?

?     To what extent do university students care about their consumer responsibility?

Due Dates:

PPT Submission: 4 pm Friday, 5th August 2024

Presentation delivery: 12th August – 16th August 2024 (exact date and time will be confirmed via E-bridge)

Core Requirements

All core requirements must be fulfilled. Failure to meet any of the core requirements will lead to a zero mark for the Task column in the marking descriptor.

Part One (Individual Presentation):

?    The presentation is on one of the given topics.

?    Speak for 4-5 minutes.

?    You must use at least one graph, table, or chart to report the survey results.

?    Your PPT must be created using Microsoft in the .ppt or .pptx file format, and it must be uploaded to the EAP033 Learning Mall dropbox by the deadline above (Maximum size 20MB). You are

strongly advised to download your submitted file from the Learning Mall and open it in order to verify the file is readable.

Part Two (Individual Interview):

?    Responses to the questions must be relevant to the questions asked.

?    Duration: 4 - 5 minutes (presentation); 2 minutes (interview); approximately 7 minutes (per student)

?    Part One: Individual presentation on the chosen topic

?    Part Two: Interview (up to 2 mins) abouyour presentation and the survey project, which   cover elaboration (Can you tell me more about…?), clarification (What do you mean by…?), and/or reflection (What would you do differently…?).

?    Students who miss the PPT submission deadline, or have uploaded a file that cannot be opened, will not be permitted to use a PPT, but they may still complete the speaking test.

?    No notes are permitted in the exam room.
